Trapiche emeralds are found only in Columbia. They are perhaps the rarest of "pattern" gems. What sets them apart? They have carbon "rays" emanating from the center with areas between filled with green. Trapiche is Spanish for gear wheel. I gather someone thought the pattern looked like spokes on a wheel???????
